Light Therapy, Restoration and Stereo-Field Vocals: An Evening with Caroline Polachek

March 3, 2016 — Presented as special programming for BIO:DIP, Red Bull Studios hosted a DJ-Set and Stereo-Field Vocals performance by Caroline Polachek.

“The very first of this series of sinewave-only pieces was made two years ago to soundtrack a piece for Hayden [Dunham], and I’ve developed it into a series since then, so it’s fitting to bring these out for another collaboration with her. Although they most obviously work as meditation music, most of them are written vocally first, and are intended to be sung along to, both for vocal healing and the pleasure of hearing your voice in your own skull mix with the sine tones. In this case, because I’ve been sick for the past week and my voice is recovering, the pieces get to do both here, which is a pretty unique opportunity. Hayden had initially asked me for “healing sounds”, and people will actually hear me healing my own voice as part of the performance.” — Polachek

In addition to Polachek’s performance, Dunham and Lobo collaborated to create a limited edition sculpture, on the occasion of the exhibition, which was released exclusively through The Gift Shop.
