NON Records, the diasporic, hardtodefine, borderless art collective has booked an extended layover at The Gift Shop (of all places). Deviating from their usual medium of expression (sound), they’ve crystallized some of their ideas into nonproducts, available for investment from May 18-22, 12-7.
No identity documents required for entry.
The NON Duty Free Gift Zone is an extension of the event Interzone: NON vs. N.A.A.F.I. Mixtape, part of Red Bull Music Academy Festival, and the program Legacy Systems at the New Museum. The two-part event kicks off with a presentation organized by the New Museum, where NON representatives Chino Amobi (Virginia, USA), Nkisi (London, UK) and Angel-Ho (Cape Town, South Africa) come together for the first time ever in a special collaborative performance. The after party will see NON joined by representatives from Mexico City’s groundbreaking party and label N.A.A.F.I (“No Ambition and Fuck-all Interest”).
NON’s critical discourse with issues associating border, territory and global identity are evident throughout their work. For this reason NON Record’s Creative Director Chino Amobi saw the Duty Free store as a natural extension of their message.
